The potential uses for plastic bonded grinding wheels extend far beyond the large production grinding operations we presently serve. An affiliate, Shaker Products, produces small specialty grinding wheels for the cutting tool and bearing industries. Drill pointing, clearing and fluting and bearing end grind are typical examples of plastic bonded technology applied to smaller products. Items in this category include:

Plastic Bonded technology is ideally suited for surface grinding segments. The cool cutting characteristics allow users to increase the removal per pass without inducing burn. Our segments routinely outperform conventional bonded products. When replacing ceramic grit segments our products match performance at a fraction of the cost. Our segments are best applied on dedicated operations where performance is quantifiable.

  Spherical End Grind Wheels  

Some of the world's largest roller bearing operations depend upon Research Abrasive spherical end grind wheels.  These are offered with or without a forgiving "spin guide rim" that minimizes errant marks. 
 
Polishing Inserts And Sticks 

Shaker Products manufactures a line of abrasive inserts that are used on polishing machines.  These inserts (with pins or bushings) support polishing tape on a variety of applications (including camshaft lobes).  Sticks of abrasive are also supplied for similar polishing applications.  These sticks are typically cut into smaller pieces and glued into holders.
